There has been a widely cited Miami Herald article dated from 2019 regarding a “flying tortilla tradition” that states

“A tortilla was flung from the Texas Tech student section onto the hardwood” – regardless of the validity of this so-called ‘tradition’, the throwing of said food at people was not a component.

There is no evidence of this ‘tradition’ being apparent anywhere else, and no evidence for this occurring at every consecutive game. Therefore it can be concluded that this is not a tradition, and the incident that took place Saturday June 19th can not be categorized as such.

We are also aware that CIF are conducting their own investigation and that the Coronado Police Department are conduting their own investigation as well.
